The 2026 edition of the annual Bacardi Global Cocktail Trends Report has good news for tequila fans.
In this, the seventh year of this research, Bacardi and its global group of surveyed bartenders and consumer spirits fans say that the Margarita will be the #1 cocktail in 2026.
This worldwide acclaim is a bit surprising, given how the overwhelming majority of tequila is consumed in North America, but if it means I can get a solid marg in Scotland or wherever, I’m all in on this trend.
And it’s not JUST Margaritas either that are being slung across bar tops around the globe.
According to Bacardi, three other tequila-based cocktails are in the top 20: Tequila Sunrise at #13, Tequila Soda (aka Ranch Water) at #16, and Paloma at #19.
Tequila Cocktails On the Rise Worldwide
Compared to the 2025 edition of the Bacardi research, this new report showcases tequila’s surging popularity in cocktails.
Just one year ago, the Margarita was second place behind the Mojito, and Tequila Sunrise was #13 (same as this year). Tequila Soda was all the way down in 19th place, and the Paloma wasn’t ranked at all. Good time to be a grapefruit grower!

Here’s the entire 2026 Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report, including several interesting predictions for how consumer behavior may change this year.
