Tapatio is a house brand at the famous La Alteña distillery located in Arandas.

This NOM 1139 distillery was founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena, enjoyed widespread success under Carlos Camarena, and is now led by his talented sister, Jenny Camarena.

Tapatio 110 is bottled at the highest legal limit of 110 proof (55% ABV) to retain maximum flavor of the agave. It was originally developed to shine in cocktails with a strong profile that doesn’t get lost when mixed.

Aroma: Hello citrus! I’m also getting agave and a light sweetness. Overall, it’s got a pleasant nose that doesn’t singe your nostrils from the higher alcohol.

Taste: Here we get a bold profile coming through, with citrus, agave, minerals, plums, dry herbs, and plenty of black pepper.

Finish: The high ABV delivers a dry mouthfeel that doesn’t overpower, but it does have a nice and long peppery finish.

With the high-proof punch, citrus and mineral notes, and reasonable price, Tapatio not only sips well but delivers strong for an elevated cocktail. If this doesn’t ramp up your next paloma, margarita, or ranch water in a big way, we need to talk.
