Entremanos is produced at Hacienda de Oro (NOM 1522) in Amatitán, under the guidance of master distiller Jaime Villalobos Sauza. The distillery is putting out a number of well-regarded brands these days, like Amatitense, Cachasol, Elevación1250, and Dos Angeles Caídos.

The brand is fronted by its charismatic COO, Alan Taylor, who produces amazing Spanish-language content on Instagram and is well worth following at @el.alanbique. In fact, Alan was the 2026 Tequila Report Fan Awards winner for Favorite Tequila Instagram Creator (50,000+ followers)!

The name Entremanos means “between hands” or “in the hands of,” a nod to all the people who touch the tequila from field to bottle.

The brand’s production includes a focus on relatively small batches, open-air fermentation with natural environmental yeast, and cooking in an autoclave for 12 hours before a rest of 48 hours in the sealed cooker.

But the standout production note on this Castaño Blanco is that it’s rested in untoasted French oak for 10–15 days, in honor of a time when wooden barrels were used to transport tequila. It’s also bottled at a slightly overproof 42% ABV.

While official standards allow a tequila to rest briefly in oak for less than two months and still be classified as a blanco, only a very small percentage of blancos enjoy being lightly kissed by oak. Not Castaño—it leans in for the smooch.

Entremanos gave this blanco its name in reference to its barrel aging.

Some European wines were transported and aged in Spanish castaño (“chestnut”) barrels. And a long time ago, a small number of tequila barrels were made of this Spanish chestnut, though oak is far more prevalent, and today’s regulations require tequila maturation to take place in oak.

Jaime Villalobos Sauza isn’t only a master distiller of tequila; he’s also a wine sommelier. Connecting these worlds is where inspiration struck in naming this Castaño Blanco.

Aroma: Floral, lime zest, plum, white pepper, wet leaves, and herbal notes.

Flavor: Cooked agave, herbal, jalapeño, brine, earthy, light oak, honey, with a creamy mouthfeel.

Finish: Nice medium finish that’s a little herbal, fruity, and spicy.

This is an earthy, herbal, spicy blanco whose brief time in oak adds a little balance and complexity. It started off a bit more earthy and herbal than I usually prefer, but as I continued sipping, the honey notes softened it. This is very nice, and my favorite Entremanos so far.

Entremanos made 6,000 bottles of the inaugural batch of Castaño Blanco. But it will remain in its core lineup, so there should be ample opportunity to find it.
