ArteNOM was a revelation when it was founded by Jake Lustig in 2010. This innovative brand was the first to highlight different distilleries and the craft of various star master distillers all under one brand, not one house. This allows each distiller to focus on a unique expression that represents their passion and craft, the Art of the NOM (ArteNOM).

Each distillery has a four-digit NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana) number, identifying it as the house of record where a tequila was bottled. This nearly always means that the tequila was made there as well, though there are some exceptions worthy of another story.

ArteNOM 1414 is made at Destilería El Ranchito NOM 1414, the Vivanco family distillery, originally under master distillers Sergio & José Manuél Vivanco and now featuring up-and-coming star Sergio Cruz.

The aromas on thus reposado deliver oak, agave, butterscotch, and cinnamon-spiced stewed apples.

Flavors bring sweet cooked agave, vanilla, cinnamon, caramelized plantains, and a hint of citrus on the end.

It’s a full-flavor tequila that leans toward the sweeter end of reposados despite only being aged around 4 months. All ArteNOM expressions are well worth seeking out as excellent representations of different distilleries and master distillers.
