“We Celebrate Slow” is the philosophy behind Solento, and after spending some time with this reposado, that starts to make sense.
Solento is produced at Tequilas Las Américas (NOM 1480) using 100% organic, single-estate Blue Weber agave grown in Amatitán, Jalisco. The agaves are harvested at around seven years of age, and the tequila is made in small batches.
Instead of relying on commercial or synthetic yeast, the distillery ferments naturally to help preserve the character of the agave. The brand also presents itself as additive-free.
The reposado spends nine full months in used American oak barrels, and that influence is noticeable without completely overpowering the spirit.
Nose: Honey, lemon, grapefruit, melon, green apple, lychee, nutmeg, and a beautiful balance of fresh and cooked agave.
Palate: It immediately reminds me of a crisp white wine. Sweet notes lead into warm oak, bright citrus, and a touch of black pepper that keeps everything balanced.
Finish: Warm wood, lingering heat, and a buttery texture that stays with you long after the sip.
I know that whenever I’m sipping something this enjoyable, I wish time would slow down. Because just like that… before you know it, the bottle is done.
