This is a different tequila owner and a different tequila. Mike Winters is the owner of Quintaliza Tequila, and he is an interesting dude. He has built business after business with an entrepreneurial spirit since high school. This may be his first time building a tequila brand, but not his first rodeo building a brand.

Mike has been involved in companies that do medical imaging, hospitality, food service, and coffee. Hmm, a connection? Mike is a motorcycle-riding free spirit who lives by the concept of “live boldly,” and he has brought that spirit over to the brand with the Quintaliza slogan of FOR THE BOLD.

This high proof reposado aged in coffee barrels is for the bold, or at least for this tequila drinker. I have put this aside multiple times for a week or a month, but always come back to it and recall again why I enjoy it so much. This also works well in an espresso martini or carajillo (worth looking up).

Aromas deliver cooked agave, butterscotch, deep rich cocoa, definitely coffee, as well as pepper and barrel spice.

On the palate, I taste all the same flavors as I was getting on the nose but also cinnamon and a slight touch of citrus.

This is a unique reposado that delivers on the brand’s FOR THE BOLD promise.
