Patrón is one of the most widely recognized brands in tequila and was credited with helping re-position tequila as a luxury spirit following its launch in 1989.
Patrón was also one of the first additive free tequilas listed by Tequila Matchmaker, now Agave Matchmaker. Patrón continues to explore limited releases, including this 2021 añejo finished for more than 2 years in oloroso sherry casks, adding a layer of wine-driven influence to the profile.
Nose - Very rich oak, caramel and dark berries notes start this show. Followed by toffee, raisin, honey chocolate and sherry. Ending with cherry, leather, vanilla, and roasted nuts.
Taste - Lots going on with this one. Bold and rich notes of oak, leather, sherry and berries. As it evolves notes of Dark Bitter chocolate, vanilla, herbalness, and plum.
Finish - Ending with sweet fruits, pepper, a musty bitter note appears with some black pepper. Mouthfeel has a slight oiliness and has a medium finsh with faint notes of spices and unsweetened tea.
