Libélula Joven is a budget friendly option to elevate your cocktails. Which makes sense because the brand was created specifically for margarita mixing, back in 2016.
It is made at Destiladora Bonanza (NOM 1604) in the southern Los Altos region of Jalisco.
Joven meaning “young” is a blend of any unaged blanco and any aged expressions. Libélula Joven is a blend of 80% blanco with 20% 8-month aged reposado.
Agave is harvested in the highlands of Jalisco, and this tequila (unlike many budget jovens) is made with 100% blue weber agave.
Nose: Light oak, cola, alcohol, vanilla
Taste: Citrus, vanilla, clove, raw agave, white pepper, cinnamon, honey, thin mouthfeel
Finish: Quick rinish, honey, oak, agave sweetness
At its price, this Joven provides a lot of value given it is a additive free option for cocktails. Libélula has pledged to donate part of their proceeds to water.org, to help families around the world get cleaner and safer water.
