Lágrimas del Valle was created around a question that deserves more attention in tequila: how much does place truly matter? Produced in collaboration with the Rosales family at Cascahuín (NOM 1123), the brand explores the influence of terroir by releasing annual bottlings sourced from individual ranches, allowing drinkers to experience how soil, elevation, climate, and harvest year shape the character of the agave long before it reaches the distillery.

Rather than chasing perfect consistency, Lágrimas del Valle embraces the uniqueness of each harvest and the story each field has to tell. The 2025 La Mesa del Charco Blanco marks the brand’s first single-estate release sourced entirely from a Rosales family-owned property in El Arenal, Jalisco. Prior Lágrimas releases are sourced from partner-farmed ranches.

This represents another step toward greater transparency in tequila—reminding us that understanding where an agave was grown can be just as meaningful as knowing how it was distilled. In an industry where provenance is often overlooked, releases like this encourage us to look beyond the bottle and appreciate the land that made it possible.

Nose: The nose is a bit light but really nice, with some complexity. Agave, limestone, and vegetal aromas shine, followed by cinnamon, mandarin, mint leaf, herbs, pepper and a subtle floral note.

Taste: Flavor is where this shines. Right away I get sweet agave, cinnamon, rich soil and river stone. Those notes are complimented by lemon zest, red apple, spearmint, pepper, sorghum, cantaloupe, fresh eucalyptus and orchid.

Somewhat light mouthfeel but a nice warm finish, with cinnamon along with honey, agave, and saline. It comes in at 46% ABV and doesn't drink hot, but the cinnamon lingers in a pleasant way.

This is a very nice high-proof blanco with lots of character that is an excellent sipper and would make some amazing cocktails.
