My fellow Texans from Fort Worth bring us this still-strength blanco, presented at 110 proof!
Note that “high proof” and “still strength” aren’t synonymous, but this tequila is both, as it is bottled after distillation without any water added for dilution.
Aromas of crisp agave jump out of the glass, along with bright celery, white pepper, dry minerals, and some light earthy mushrooms, with a slight vegetal note.
The agave is ever-present on the palate. It’s green and bright, and it adds a natural sweetness. The alcohol brings intensity to the minerality and white pepper. The vegetal note is mostly fresh jalapeño.
This La Pulga bottle is a bold blanco as a sipper, and it’s a cocktail king due to its powerful flavors.
