G4 represents the four generations of the Camarena family, now lead by Felipe Camarena, a true innovator in the tequila industry.
All their agaves go into proprietary stone ovens that cook from the top and bottom for an even roast. Industry standard is to steam from only one direction.
A custom “Felipestein” mechanical tahona gently crushes all the agave fibers, another example of Felipe’s innovation.
The G4 Blanco de Madera is unlike their standard G4 blanco. Traditional G4 uses stainless steel fermentation without fibers, while Madera is fermented in traditional, open-air wooden vats with agave fibers included.
These production differences impart a fuller mouthfeel for Madera. Along with a sweeter cooked agave flavor, herbal and earthy notes join to create a unique and flavorful blanco tequila.
Aromas: Cooked agave, light smokiness, baking spices, and light citrus notes.
Flavor Profile: Sweet cooked agave hits the palate, followed by baking spices, light pepper, cinnamon, citrus, and a minerality that rounds it out, delivering a complex yet very approachable higher proof blanco.
Finish: All the flavors converge to make this a very balanced tequila, leaving a pleasing long finish of sweet cooked agave with a light touch of minerality.
“Madera” is Spanish for “wood”. The open-air wood fermentation with fibers along with their ancestral yeast, combining with a higher proof, makes this a unique and very flavorful blanco.
G4 Madera is complex, with great depth and richness—one of my favorite sipping tequilas.
