The owner, Jaime Juarez—who also owns Unified Spirits—has been involved in tequila distribution for while. He finally decided to start his own brand and was fortunate enough to team up with the Vivanco family distillery (NOM 1414) and master distiller Sergio Cruz.
Together they have created a strong buzz in the tequila community with a philosophy of being 100% authentic to the culture of tequila. Hence the name, Cultura 100!
Keith Bogart from Fuerte Fanatics is the product development manager for Cultura 100, and he has done an amazing job working with Jaime and Sergio on this brand. Hats off fellows!
Cultura 100 High Proof Blanco is horno-cooked for 30 hours, then cooled down for an additional 24 hours. Only the hearts—the clean, middle cut of the distillation—are used to make this still-strength blanco. This high proof expression needs time to open up, but when it does, it shines!
Aromas: Cooked agave, white pepper and citrus notes touch your nose.
Flavors: Great viscosity and mouth feel. There are layers of depth to this high proof blanco. Sweet cooked agave right upfront, followed by citrus, mineral and herbal notes. There is some spicy cinnamon and mint towards the end.
Finish: A long pleasing finish, where that sweet cooked agave lingers nicely.
This is a well-balanced, well-made, and well-priced high-proof blanco. It checks all the boxes. I would use this to elevate a cocktail or sip neat all day long.
