This Acre Lago Joven Rosa is a 50/50 blend of blanco and reposado, one part rested in French oak Chardonnay barrels for 55 days and the other in French oak Pinot Noir barrels for 90 days. Both barrels were sourced from Argyle Winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

The color is more similar to a dark Chardonnay than to the usual pinkish hues from barrels that previously held red wines like Pinot Noir.

There are some wine-like floral aromas, along with an underlying cooked agave note.

The wine influence shows up on the palate, but it doesn’t overwhelm the agave. There are some tannin notes, but then the agave sweetness presents itself. Other flavors are rose water, muted black cherry, barrel spices, and caramelized agave.

The finish is barrel spice and agave sweetness.

Overall, this is a unique tequila that wine lovers will enjoy without alienating agave purists.
