818 was tequila founded by Kendall Jenner in 2021. The numbers 818 are her home area code. It is currently produced at NOM 1607 Grupo Solave located in the valley.
They use traditional methods in production such as stone/brick ovens, a tahona for extraction, open air natural fermentation and a copper pot. They also give back to the local community by working with several organizations.
Nose starts with vanilla, chocolate and caramel followed up by marshmallow, oak and orange, ending with sage, rubber and floralness
Taste begins with sweet caramel and vanilla. A cake batter note appears along with chocolate and marshmallows reminiscent of a s’mores. Then notes of orange zest, cherry cola and fruit are followed by honey, flowers, plastic and white pepper.
The finish is heavy with a slight syrupy mouthfeel that holds a sweet finish for quite some time.
This one just isn’t for me. For people who want a very sweet, artificial flavor profile, this may be on the mark. But there are many other better options available.
