Terralta literally means “Highlands”. What makes all brands made at El Pandillo (NOM 1579) different from one to another, is the water sources used. Terralta uses deep well water (150 meters down), giving all the expressions of Terralta tequila that great minerality!
As Master Distiller Felipe Camarena likes to say, “I’m not in the business of making fancy bottles. I’m in the business of making great tequila” and he certainly does.
Rested, more so than “aged” for 3-4 years in very worn American oak barrels previously used for bourbon. This extra anejo over-delivers for the price and is my go-to tequila to get people on their agave journey!
Light in color, more like an anejo than an extra anejo in color.
Aromas: Stone fruit, red berries, light hint of bourbon, baking spices, a little smoke, honey, sweet agave, and minerality.
Flavor Profile: Great balance of sweet cooked agave and very light sweet barrel notes, very little heat, cinnamon, baking spices, cooked orange peel, honey, light enough to show the sweet cooked agave. Perfect sipper.
Finish: Sweet and lasting, very little alcohol here on the finish.
