A bold cask-strength extra añejo at an approachable price.
This tequila was unleashed by industry veteran Scott Baird, who was previously involved with Tequila Ocho and Ancho Reyes.
This new brand’s first release stands tall as a 53% ABV cask-strength extra añejo.
Aromas start fruity and floral, with the high alcohol content punching through the barrel notes.
After some dark cherries, the barrel delivers caramel and leather. Flavors of raisin, oak, tobacco, and clove rise to the forefront. It’s got a nice mouth tingle with a relatively dry, woody finish. The high ABV is welcome and not overpowering.
The dark amber color of this tequila is influenced by aging in French and American barrels that were either new or barely used. This wood combo manages to balance sweet and spicy notes.
High-proof extra añejos are relatively rare. This one manages to deliver a robust profile with enough complexity to intrigue tequila lovers and wow the bourbon crowd.
This tequila is sold in a one-liter format, making it more affordable than the price tag indicates.
