Lunazul is gaining serious traction as a budget tequila.
It made The Tequila Report’s list of 35 Fastest-Growing Tequila Brands with 65% sales growth, and took the #1 spot by dollar growth on the list of The 41 Tequila Brands Growing All 4 Ways in 2026.
It’s safe to say that Lunazul is winning on price. But how is the quality?
Lunazul Blanco is the tequila featured on Delta Air Lines flights in the U.S., and this review comes to you from 30,000 feet. My tequila was served cold, so keep in mind that the temperature may be muting some of the aromas and flavors.
On the nose, this is extremely light. I’m getting very little cooked agave, with the alcohol coming through much stronger than I expected.
On the palate, there’s a light agave flavor and a noticeable sweetness, but not much complexity or depth behind it. I’m searching for the cooked agave, citrus, minerality, herbs, or other characteristics I normally enjoy in a blanco, and there just isn’t much happening here.
The finish is short, with a little alcohol heat, followed by an unusual lingering flavor that I don’t enjoy.
Even accounting for this being served cold, Lunazul Blanco doesn’t give me enough agave character or complexity to be something I’d choose to sip neat.
