Los Linderos is more than a pretty bottle on the shelf, although it is a beautiful package.
It is made at the legendary Sergio Vivanco y Associados distillery (NOM 1414) in The Highlands by master distiller Sergio Cruz.
Los Linderos is an emerging craft brand founded by Carr Scott has done a nice job of garnering attention in its rollout phase.
This tequila starts with fully mature, single estate Highlands agave fully influenced by the rich red soil characteristic of the region.
This añejo is then aged up to three years in ex-bourbon barrels which adds a spice element to the sweet agave base blanco.
Nose: oak, agave, butterscotch, white pepper, caramel, vanilla, caramelized orange
Taste: caramel, vanilla, oak ,butterscotch, black tea, sweet agave, toffee, creme brûlée
Finish: Sweetness lingers, soft oak notes, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla
Los Linderos Añejo is noticeably sweet, but not in an artificial sense. The flavor profile of this Añejo is due to the extra time in ex-bourbon barrels. Required minimum for an añejo is one year of aging in oak, and Los Linderos is tripling that time.
Well balanced, this Añejo demonstrates that time and patience make a difference in the glass.
