Carreta de Oro (Golden Cart) was founded by a collective of Jalisco agave farmers around 2004 to process their surplus agave, creating artisanal tequila using traditional methods. Its name symbolizes the historic agave-hauling carts.

Co-founders Ronak Patel and Samuel La Cerda relaunched the brand with a reformulated product and new bottle design beginning in 2020, gaining wider distribution. Patel is a seasoned entrepreneur whose nearly two decades in the spirits and operations industry have shaped a deep respect for authenticity and quality. Rather than reinventing the cart, Patel revived Carreta de Oro Tequila by honoring its heritage, partnering directly with the original Jalisco distillery and agave cooperative to preserve the traditional production methods.

This reposado is aged six months in American white oak barrels that formerly held Jack Daniel’s whiskey.

The nose opens with a balanced blend of agave, oak, and honey. Aromas continue with pine, sawdust, citrus, vanilla, a nice floral note, and end with pepper and minerals.

The taste is led by agave, honey, and oak, followed by vanilla, citrus, apple, pine, minerals, and pepper.

It finishes with hints of herbs, cinnamon, mint, and floral notes. A nice light oily viscosity on the tongue with a medium-length finish.
