Calle 23 is the passion project of French-born biochemist and engineer Sophie Decobecq, a trailblazer in the agave world whose scientific curiosity led her deep into Mexico’s tequila culture.
After relocating to Mexico to study fermentation and distillation, Sophie fell in love with the spirit and eventually launched Calle 23, naming it after the street sign that inspired her during a pivotal moment in brand creation.
Today she remains at the helm, blending science, tradition, and personal vision in every bottle.
For this blanco, agave and vegetal notes stand out first. Right behind are citrus, flowers, mint, and cinnamon. Minerals, earth, citrus zest, and a slight hint of malolactic funk follow. It ends with subtle aromas of nuts, flowers, and a hint of vanilla.
On the palate, agave, cinnamon, and white pepper show up right away for a nice warm start. Orange zest, flowers, roasted almonds, and vanilla are followed by a mild funkiness, mint, licorice, brine, and earth.
The finish has a light, watery mouthfeel with a short trail of cinnamon, mint, and herbs.
Calle 23 Blanco is a truly enjoyable experience with its own unique profile.
