From NOM 1579, this 53% still strength blanco is a banger!
Probably one of the best agave-forward high proofs out there.
Cristina and Chad Allen built the Volans brand sip by sip. Felipe Camarena may be the master distiller and final palate in the tasting chain, but each expression that Volans delivers, you can see the performance of the brand escalate, and that is Chad and Cristina at the wheel.
This blanco absolutely delivers, and, if you’re looking for something unique, try pairing it with apple cobbler and vanilla ice cream. You can thank me for that later.
Nose: earth / cooked agave / hint of vanilla / dried fruit / hint of melon / lime / black tea
Taste: sweet cooked agave taste explosion immediately at the beginning of the sip / pepper / green pepper / touch of cinnamon / apple / hint of melon / pineapple / lime / peppermint / baking spices/ mineral
Finish: light to medium viscosity that does coat the palate but has a slightly quick end to the sip / lingering agave, peppermint, black pepper
The sweet cooked agave and peppermint are like Thelma and Louise driving off the cliff at the end of the movie…they’re the last to go over the back of your palate but you remember them for a while.
