Valor Tequila’s hummingbird logo represents an elegant creature that has grace, poise, and power. That’s what I’m enjoying about this expression. This 47% ABV blanco from Valor has big flavor notes, but it also has an elegance that gives a very balanced and unified experience.
In most cases, one or two flavors steal the show in a high proof, but brand owner Christiane Maertens and Master Distiller Rene Carranza, from NOM 1599, are showing off just how well they can dance together and how balancing boldness and elegance can deliver a fantastic tasting experience.
This is an amazing sipper that I highly recommend.
Nose: sweet cooked agave / vanilla and chocolate / hint of cinnamon/ hint of vegetal sweet / fruity!!! – banana – cherry- hint of pear -hint of melon / citrus – lime / hint of anise / tea / floral-rose / nutmeg
Taste: BIG sweet cooked agave / vanilla / mild cinnamon / hint of pepper / anise / banana / melon / apple / lime/ orange / tiny hint of tangerine / spearmint / baking spices -nutmeg / cream soda
Finish: light to medium viscosity that coats the palate quite well / vanilla, anise, and sweet cooked agave dance over the palate and leave an easy and smooth spearmint aftertaste. At the very end of the sip the previously mild cinnamon and pepper flavors amplify and keep holding on with the spearmint to give you something to really remember…like a first kiss.
