This reposado is made by maestra tequilera Melly Barajas at NOM 1533 in Valle de Guadalupe.
Remarkably, the entirety of the jobs at this distillery are done by women, and this is the only distillery where that is the case.
TC Craft is made solely in fall and winter, where the lower temperatures result in slower fermentation and more nuanced flavors.
Aerated and oxygenated before bottling, this affordable reposado is aged for a full year - a long time compared to most reposados. Older barrels are used, however, keeping this tequila from becoming highly oaked or bourbon adjacent.
Aroma features a very nice combo of butterscotch and orange zest, with a little dusty sawdust riding on top, with a tiny whiff of vanilla wafer.
Viscosity and mouth feel are a little thin, but not a detriment.
Flavor on this reposado is very agreeable with caramel, lemon, peach, and butter. Very light barrel or oak character. This is a blanco lovers’ reposado.
Short-ish finish with very little burn, likely due to the aeration.
Not massively complex, but very tasty and a great pick as a go-to tequila for cocktails or to give someone who is newer on their tequila journey.
