Cazcanes Tequila, a luxury spirit celebrated for its purity and transparency, is crafted in Amatitán, Jalisco using 100% organic Blue Weber agave and natural volcanic spring water from Navichi Springs near Hostotipaquillo. The water source—located about 45 minutes from the distillery—is an essential element of Cazcanes’ distinctive flavor profile, given that several other brands are made at the same distillery.
Cazcanes No.7 extra añejo is a small-batch tequila aged an average of 37 months in re-charred American oak barrels sourced from Jack Daniel’s, Jim Beam, Clermont, and Four Roses, with a small portion finished using French oak staves from Napa Valley Cabernet barrels. This tequila is aged to taste not to time.
On the nose, it bursts with aromas of dried fruit, sweet cooked agave, butterscotch, and a whisper of baking spice. Despite its long barrel aging, the agave remains beautifully present on the palate, unfolding into layers of caramel, chocolate, and warm spice.
The texture is rich, creamy, and buttery—almost like a liquid dessert—finishing with lingering notes of butterscotch and cinnamon that stay with you long after each sip.
Cazcanes No.7 is definitely a splurge in price as most extra añejos are due to the length of time in barrels before it's bottled and available to market. This extra añejo is an impressive, artfully crafted tequila that will captivate the most seasoned connoisseur while remaining soft, elegant, and approachable for those new to the category. Worth the splurge!
