This blanco is certified USDA Organic, and is made at one of the most sustainable distilleries in the tequila region, Tequilas del Señor. This is also the only distillery located in Guadalajara itself. This family-owned facility has 80 years of tequila experience.
A proprietary cultivated yeast strain dating back nearly the entire history of the distillery is used to create this tequila.
Authentico blanco is a versatile, pleasant, straightforward expression at 40% ABV that’s priced fairly and works well as a go-to cocktail mixer or warm weather sipper.
This is a blanco that, in particular, benefits from some air as the aromas and flavors change quite a bit after 10+ minutes in the glass.
Aroma is fairly muted, with a nice floral backbone like wild strawberries mixed with clean cotton sheets.
I find the flavor profile to be quite citrus forward, mostly lemon or lemongrass, with some pepper and slight astringency. Short-ish finish but very little burn, making this a solid choice for newer tequila fans, in particular.
