Viva México Tequila is produced in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico in the town of Arandas, at the renowned Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados Distillery (NOM 1414). This is the original Viva México, proudly crafted by the Vivanco family.
Recently, the distillery introduced its new tahona for crushing cooked agave piñas, and this expression marks the first blanco produced using this traditional stone wheel maceration method. After maceration, this high-proof blanco undergoes open-air fermentation in wooden tanks, copper pot distillation, and is bottled at 48% ABV.
On the nose, sweet roasted agave takes the lead, followed by black pepper, wet cement, and bright citrus, with hints of light honey and tropical fruit.
The palate delivers layers of sweet roasted agave and citrus, accented by minerality, jalapeño spice, and soft melon notes. The texture is luscious and full, leading into a long, spicy finish that lingers beautifully.
Reasonably priced for a high-proof blanco, Viva México Tahona is an exceptional and flavorful sipper with a finish that keeps on giving.
