There’s nothing ‘Lost’ about this explorer once it finds your taste buds. This 40% abv blanco from The Lost Explorer is created at Destileria El Magnifico (NOM 1258) by Maestro Tequilero Enrique De Colsa.
This blanco gives me the light vegetal qualities I usually get from brands in the Valles area, but to my palate, it’s the Champagne yeast that helps push the sweeter flavors out front for this blanco.
It’s like a great Valles blanco that got a blast of Los Altos. I get a very enjoyable ‘Hey! You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!’ kind of vibe going on, only this blanco is well balanced and is one heck of a smooth sipper. If you like the sweeter side but also like a light vegetal tone, this one could be for you.
Nose: herbal / floral / hint of vanilla / earth / minerals / dried cherry / citrus / chamomile
Taste: sweet cooked agave / vanilla / very mild cinnamon / hint of vegetal / apple / cherry / citrus - leaning towards grapefruit / anise / spearmint / very mild pepper / very light minerality
Finish: light-medium viscosity / some sips hold on and others wash away quickly / a slight be more watery than oily / exceptionally clean easy roll off on the end of the sip / lingering sweet agave, vanilla, and spearmint dominate the last part of the sip
